Advisory
More and more Africans are discovering the joy of having pictures on the wall, creating opportunities for artists and gallerists alike. But how is the inexperienced buyer, or even the experienced one, supposed to plough through the great volume of contemporary art being churned out today? Much of the work is compelling and, therefore, collectible. But a lot of it is not original while still aesthetically pleasing. This creates a dilemma for the private or corporate collector who may not necessarily have a discerning eye.

The service provided by an art advisor is not necessarily to tell the customer what they should buy, for this is always a personal choice. Some people are looking for paintings by important artists. Some are looking for works by young artists who have a unique view of things. Others are looking for works that will speak to them or reinforce deeply felt emotions. Some are looking for works that will give them pleasure each and every time they behold them. And, just as well, there are others simply looking to fill the empty space on a wall.
