Ronex, who has long been established on the Ugandan art scene, executed this canvas in 2017, in what was a very productive year for him. The cityscape depicts an “abandoned” food stall in the street. The picture has a haunting quality, and yet an undeniably ethereal beauty lifts from the canvas as if from the depth of a sea. The picture hangs in the collector’s office because it somehow reminds him of the solitude that’s necessary to accomplish great things.
