This painting was acquired from an exhibition at the Lusaka National Museum of the work of art students graduating from Evelyn Hone College, the school that has trained some of Zambia’s most important artists. There was a lot of work on display, paintings and sculptures alike, but “My Mother” was one of a kind in its evocation of the feminine beauty of mothers all over Africa. The name of the artist who executed the piece was not indicated in the catalogue, but the collector is trying to find out via the show’s curator.
