Pacy, who is based in the Burundian city of Bujumbura, executed this painting in 2025 as one two dozen pieces presented for his solo show – “Within & Without: Painting Burundi” – at Kampala’s Weganda Gallery. The dimensions of the banana plant are abstracted with such intensity that the picture appears almost like a constellation in space. The canvas represents the best of Pacy, one of the outstanding painters active in Burundi today.
