This is the second piece in the Roduza Collection executed by Vincent Niwagaba, an artist who learned his craft from his father in Bigodi, a rural town just outside Kibale National Park in western Uganda. Shown the photo of a similar piece the collector once saw in Juba, South Sudan, Niwagaba went to work to recreate, using the versatile material known locally as lubugo, the image of a welded wire mesh. The exquisite piece he made was strung on cardboard and framed in natural mvule wood.
