Family Gathering

This piece was acquired directly from Kateregga, an established artist in Uganda. Kateregga has distinguished himself over the years with pictures that can seem like allegories of existence. The artist told the collector he often has people in mind when he paints wildlife. The vultures in this picture are not really birds, unless one chooses to simply visualize them that way; they may very well be humans scrambling for a meal. In addition to the striking imagery, Kateregga’s powers as a colorist are also on full display here.
