Eky’egulo Ekisembayo

Nanfuka, who teaches painting at Makerere University, executed this powerful canvas as part of the requirements for her doctoral degree. One of the wonders of the Roduza Collection, this masterpiece of color and technique is a reinterpretation of the biblical Last Supper. Nanfuka’s work often explores the intersection of the classical tradition with indigenous artistic expression, notably in religious pictures. The daughter of Prof. Kizito Maria Kasule, a living master who also teaches at Makerere University, Nanfuka grew up in a devoutly Catholic family.
