This small painting punches above its weight in composition and style. Seen from afar, it looks like the work of a child, which is not necessarily a bad thing and almost always a good thing. Up close, it reveals a complex landscape of houses one wishes Ronex had executed on a much bigger canvas. This collector said to Ronex, when he was about to acquire it, that it was somewhat reminiscent of the work of Paul Klee, and he didn’t disagree. Ronex paints in many styles, from Cubism to realism, but his best artworks often incorporate influences from many styles.
