This is one of at least two paintings of women roasting maize that Kyeyune made during the COVID-19 pandemic. The painting evokes the loneliness of those sad days, but its beauty still moves the viewer. It is so intimate that one feels like he knows this woman and may have once brought corn from her: yet another picture that underscores Kyeyune’s aptitude for capturing the stories of our lives.
