Executed in Kateete’s realist style but rendered with abstract tension, “I am Alone” effortlessly captures the artist’s dirty kitchen – his domestic solitude – in the Nairobi home he has occupied for years. The great Ugandan artist executed this canvas on a commission from Muhumuza, who wished to have some Kateete still lifes in his collection.
