The Kampala-based Badru Katumba is widely respected for his visionary images, many of them made for (and published by) the international press. This picture of a marabou stork at a garbage dumpsite captured the attention of the collector for its singular description of suffering. Marabou storks are so common in Kampala that one might say they colonized the city and own it. But it is rare to find a bird that has been injured and can prove it.
