This work was among several exhibited by Kateregga when he launched his new space, Abataka Art Gallery, in 2024. It is executed in his new technique, retaining a bit of his early Impressionist influences but tending more towards Expressionism. The subject is familiar: a long line of saucepan-carrying refugees lining up to collect food. Kateregga is among the most collected – and most collectible – artists at work in Uganda today, but he is himself humble and his painting style quite unassuming.
