This painting was acquired from a dealer in Cotonou, the Beninese commercial capital. The artist, Prince Ademola, was said to be 55 years old and living in Porto-Novo, the administrative capital, in May 2026. The dealer said of Ademola: “He is brilliant. There is no one here who paints like him.” He did not have to say that; it was clear enough, and the work spoke for itself. The somewhat Cubist collage describes an intimate scene between a man and a woman, their profiles grotesque and beautiful at once. This rare piece ranks among the great treasures of the Roduza Collection.
