Kizito, a professor of art at Makerere University, has distinguished himself as a modern master in our parts. This painting was executed in the naïve but charming style that he first experimented with back in the day, making it a rare piece in the artist’s elastic body of work. The painting was held for many years by Kampala’s AKKA Gallery, from which this collector acquired it. As in the other Kizito domiciled in the Roduza Collection, this piece appears to depict a sisterhood in motion. Kizito’s work is held in important collections at home and abroad, including the New Vision Printing and Publishing Company, the World Bank, and the Doha-based Arak Collection.
