Why?

The artist said this unique piece of conceptual art was inspired by questions over the persistence of English as the language of instruction in Ugandan schools, hence the “why” in the title. Kigozi said he disagreed with “the privileging of foreign languages over Indigenous language” that is contributing to the erosion of native culture. As he told the collector, this ceramic piece “has high and low relief texture, representing the predominance of English language and the existence of the native languages on the same surface platform.”
